Hi Dave & Nancy,
Just wanted to invite you, and any of your group that wants to tag along, to the tour I am organizing on Saturday, September 23rd. No RSVP is needed and all are welcome, even last minute deciders, but a rough head count the day before would be helpful.
We hope to see you!

Shenango Valley Region AACA Fall Tour Announcement for 9-23-2023
On Saturday, September 23, 2023 we will depart the New Castle Walmart parking lot, near McDonalds (2537 West State St, New Castle, PA 16101), promptly at 9am. Expected maximum speed is 45mph for the day, with rolling hills.
We will travel south on 2 lane & back roads to Beaver Falls, PA where we will visit Vintage Torque – a full service automotive restoration & repair facility. Next, a leisurely drive on the back roads (and a few city streets) will take us “the long way” to our lunch stop at Yolanda’s – a local Italian, pizza, and sandwich favorite in the Chippewa area (menu prices $5 – $17, most items $9-$13).
After leaving our lunch stop, we will travel Darlington Road (a former stagecoach route and Indian footpath connecting Pittsburgh to Cleveland) and Riverside Drive, along the Beaver River, on our way to the Beaver Area Heritage Museum.
This national award-winning museum features displays rich in the pre-Revolutionary history of the Beaver and Ohio River Valleys with emphasis on Native American populations and Ft. McIntosh, where the First American Regiment aka “The Old Guard” was organized in 1783. Today, this regiment is known as the Presidential Honor Guard.
The current centerpiece focuses on a controversial local figure, the US Senator who ruled Pennsylvania politics for over 20 years until his death in 1904: “Matthew Stanley Quay – Sinner or Saint?”
They also feature an 1802 Log House, restored and furnished as it would have appeared at the dawn of the 19th Century, complete with early 1800’s era herb and botanical gardens. Yet another feature is what we would now call a “Tiny House.” This tiny house was built as a play house, or life size doll house, for the daughter of an affluent citizen of Beaver.
After our guided tour, we will leave Beaver following River Road, and State Route 68, with an excellent view of the new Shell ethane cracker plant along the Ohio River. Lastly, we turn back north and enjoy beautiful scenery as we find our way to an ice cream stand in Bessemer.
If anyone desires to go but doesn’t want to drive, let us know and we will set you up with a member that has extra room for passengers. We hope to see you on Saturday, Sept. 23!
